Since 1932, when Walter Gaffney founded our firm, we have specialized in public construction. The firm was incorporated in 1958 as Gaffney Associates, and in 1985 the firm merged with another architectural practice, Design Directions, and was renamed, Gaffney Architects, Inc.
Throughout our 60 years of professional practice, Gaffney Architects has specialized in public construction with 85% of our services being provided to public entities. Typical projects are libraries, town halls, schools, and fire and police stations and many multi-use facilities. The firm has been the architects in over 100 school projects, 6 library projects in eight years, and numerous public buildings throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
Many firms have blossomed and folded within our time span, few have been able to match our continuous reputation for providing full service, traditional architectural and engineering services. Based upon years of experience with the needs of public construction we recognize that " design " only represents 15% of the services needed to deliver a truly successful project. Our philosophy is premised on making technical expertise the priority. Gaffney consistently delivers projects that have long term life cycle value and budget responsive solutions above aesthetics.

success with public facilities:
